Yes, you read it right! The upcoming Vizag marathon is possibly the only marathon in the country to be run all along a sea coast. As part of the Navy Week activities, the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) will be hosting the Vizag Navy half marathon on November 2, 2014. The event, which is open to Indians as well as foreigners, will be held in three categories – a half-marathon of 21.1 km as well as 10 km and 5 km races.

One will get to experience the thrill of a lifetime by running along the Bay of Bengal coast. As per Running and Living, the half marathon course is scenic, breezy and has a few ups and downs and will give your running an all new experience.

It is open to all and the Navy is expecting participants from various parts of India and abroad. All the runs will start from the Kursura Museum on the Beach Road and go beyond Kailasgiri ropeway, towards Rushikonda along the coastline and then return via the Beach Road to the Naval Coastal Battery, the finish line. The U-turns for the 5-km run is near the VUDA Park, for the 10 km near Kailasagiri ropeway and for the half-marathoners near the Yendada firing range. The Half Marathon will stay open for 3:15 hours from 5:15 am onwards.
